Rules For Chemical & Color Treated Hair
Everyone can remember their first relaxer and how silky and shiny it was. After the first shampoo it was no longer the silky shiny hair you spent so much money on. Daily Cleansing Cream, Quench and Nourishment Leave In Conditioner are ideal for use on chemically relaxed hair (Brazilian keratin, Japanese, relaxers, sodium hydroxide relaxers, texturizers, silkeners.) They do not contain sodium chloride or sulfates which dry out and strip this already depleted hair.
Women frequently ask if they can heat style their relaxed hair. Instead of adding heat to relaxed hair, I recommend roller-setting once or twice per week to maintain health and vibrancy. Look for fabric-covered hot rollers thay work great for boosting body!
Using a moisturizing, sulfate-free cleanser, like Daily Cleansing Cream, will help to protect against further depleting your hair of essential moisture.
Color Processed Hair - Daily Cleansing Cream was developed and formulated to help prevent color pigment from leaching out of hair. A majority of shampoos on the market are not only leaching color pigment, but stripping hair of its natural oils - giving color processes a bad wrap.
Brazilian Keratin Treated Hair – hair that has been treated by Keratin treatments needs extreme hydration. It also needs products that are free of sodium chlorides/sulfates. Our Daily Cleansing Cream, Quench Conditioner and Nourishment Leave In-Conditioner are recommended for textures that have undergone this process.
Chemical Relaxers/Texturizer/Silkener (Sodium Hydroxide)- chemically altering the hair can be a great way to enhance your texture, but without the proper haircare you can further deplete hair of its essential moisture. Shampoo one time with the wrong product and it’s a disaster! Hair Rules Daily Cleansing Cream can make all the difference and turn around any negative connotation those chemical treatments may have had in the past and make all of your enhancements a success!
Japanese Relaxers/Jeri Curl (Thyoglycolic)- These treatments can be harsh on your hair, leaving it dry, brittle and susceptible to damage. Avoid using shampoos which contain sulfates or sodium chloride that may damage your beautiful hair. Hair Rules Daily Cleansing Cream was formulated without these harsh ingredients, restoring essential moisture and shine. Follow with Quench Conditioner and Nourishment Leave In Conditioner which are also recommended for textures that have been chemically altered.
pH balance
The pH scale ranges from 0-14, with 0 being the lower end and more acidic, 14 being the higher end and more alkaline. A pH of 7 is considered neutral. When it comes to shampoos, the higher the pH rating (more alkaline) the stronger and harsher the shampoo is to the hair. A high pH shampoo can leave the hair dry and brittle. The ultimate pH for a shampoo would be between 5.0-6.0 (leaning towards more acidic). The Hair Rules Daily Cleansing Cream fits perfectly into this range at an average pH of 5.36. Aloe Grapefruit Purifying Shampoo is a great alternative as it has an average pH of 6.47.
Weaves
If you have a weave, weekly salon visits or home care is essential to maintaining your investment. Care begins with cleansing the scalp thoroughly. Do this gently to avoid loosening, tangling, or matting the weave. Squeezing is best. Be sure to use an ultra-moisturizing cleanser like Hair Rules Daily Cleansing Cream and a liberal amount of Quench Conditioner.
